A TRULY BEAUTIFUL START TO CHRISTMAS
Monday 14th December saw St. George’s Church in Hanover Square, London, filled with over 500 people attending LGFB’s 17th Carol Concert.
Organised by concert supremo, Richard Bradley and with Ivor Settlefield, conductor extraordinaire, this year’s concert included guest performances from baritone James Cleverton, Mezzo-Soprano Beth Langford, Soprano Angela Henckel, as well as further musical enchantment provided by Sarah Field on the trumpet and saxophone, Ben-San Lau, Repetiteur, on the piano and Andrew Macmillan on the organ. As always, the Church was ringing to the beautiful sounds of Barts Chamber Choir, who also ensured that the audience sang in full voice.
Guests also enjoyed readings from Neil Harrison, Head of Merchandising – Lingerie and Beauty, Marks & Spencer plc; Justin Musgrove, Managing Director – Bannatyne Group; Julie Perrin, LGFB Patient Ambassador and Richard Bradley, LGFB Honorary Life-President.
“Uplifting!” “Absolutely brilliant!” “A truly beautiful start to Christmas.” These were just a few of the comments we heard while guests enjoyed Prosecco and mince pies, donated by M&S, after the concert.
The 2015 Carol Concert also saw the first Gillian Kirton ‘Volunteer of the Year’ Award being presented to volunteer Pamela Page. Gillian was a LGFB beneficiary and staunch supporter of the charity and became our first Patient Ambassador back in 2002. Gillian left LGFB a legacy in her Will and her family were delighted that we wanted to honour her memory by creating an Annual Award. Pamela has volunteered with LGFB for over 15 years and is Regional Co-ordinator for Newcastle. Despite undergoing treatment herself Pamela always insisted on continuing to attend Workshops and offering her expertise, warmth and kindness to hundreds of ‘guests’ at her Workshops.
A huge thank you to everyone that joined us on the night and special thanks to our generous sponsors: M&S Beauty, Kenneth Green Associates, Bespoke Europe, Charles Worthington, Clarins, Coty and FDD.
