It was an invitation to the wedding of a close family member that encouraged Anna Sherliker to sign up to Look Good Feel Better’s on-line workshops.

Anna, from Preston, was first diagnosed with breast cancer nine years ago, and then twice since – the latest diagnosis was delivered in 2021. She had never been a make-up or skin care devotee, but the idea of attending a big family event encouraged her to sign up to the virtual skincare and make-up sessions, as well as the hand & nail care workshop.

And Anna hasn’t looked back. She says:
“I had heard of the charity beforehand, but never really thought it was for me. However, now I can’t recommend them enough. It was such a useful forum, providing us with really practical tips and advice on how to look after our skin. I now swear by my daily beauty routine of cleanser, toner, serum and moisturiser and it really has made a difference to how I look and feel.

“It was just such a confidence boost being surrounded by people in the same situation, albeit at different stages of their treatment, and to be able to talk, ask questions and share ideas. There was a real sense of camaraderie. The fact that the workshops are held on-line doesn’t make a difference. Indeed, it makes it even more accessible if you can’t leave your home or travel.

“The therapist showed us step by step how to apply make-up, including eye brows and eye lashes, and answered all our questions. It gave me such a confidence boost!”
Needless to say, the wedding day was very special for Anna, who applied all the techniques acquired during the workshop to prepare herself for the big day.
“My family actually thought a professional had done my make-up and it was simply wonderful to be able to face such a big event with real confidence again. The wedding was beautiful and I was able to enjoy every minute.”
