We want every volunteer to feel confident, supported, and set up for success. Our induction process is designed to welcome you into the Cancer Support Services (CSS) community, build your skills, and make sure you feel ready and excited to get started.
Within your first 3–4 months, you can expect to:

Take part in a friendly introductory phone call with a member of our CSS Head Quarter (HQ) team

Complete a short, compulsory online induction within two weeks of receiving your training link

Join a compulsory Zoom New Volunteer Induction call with a Regional Manager and fellow new volunteers (within your first 6 weeks)

Visit an accessible, face-to-face workshop (if applicable) to observe a session once your training is complete

Have a follow-up review call with CSS HQ to share feedback, ask questions, and confirm your readiness to volunteer

Agree on at least three workshop dates at your chosen location/s

Be confirmed as an active volunteer

Receive a warm welcome call from your Regional Manager
Within your first 6 months, you’ll also have the opportunity to:

Complete additional online training modules to build confidence across all areas of workshop delivery

Join at least one Active Volunteer Update call at a time that suits you, helping you stay connected and informed

Attend a compulsory Zoom session with our Fundraising team

Take part in an additional observation visit at another workshop location, if needed

To ensure a safe, consistent, and high-quality experience for everyone involved, completion of the full induction and onboarding process is a mandatory requirement for all volunteers.
