Meet Geoff Percy, Look Good Feel Better, Chair of Trustees
“Meeting beneficiaries and hearing what impact we have had on them, their families and friends always reminds me of the importance of what we do. With cancer rates only set to increase over the next few years, it is clear that our services are needed now more than ever before. When I hear that our workshops have been transformative for people, I am filled with pride.”
Geoff has spent his career in the health and beauty industry, working for prestigious brands such as Nivea, Neutrogena, Simple Health and Beauty, and many others. Amongst other influential positions he has held, Geoff was Chairman of the CTPA between 2004 and 2007 and he is currently the non-executive Chairman of SLG and advisor to a number of beauty brands.
It is fair to say that Geoff knows and understands the beauty world inside and out, and is a highly respected figure in this fast-paced industry.
Geoff joined Look Good Feel Better as Chairman over five years ago, and has worked with the charity through the challenges brought about by COVID-19:
“I was honoured to join as Chairman in 2018. I was committed to supporting the management team to help develop the charity’s growth plan. Those plans were severely challenged during the pandemic, but the charity adapted well to the changes in circumstances. We were also pleased to welcome Mark Flannery, whom we appointed as Chief Executive in 2022.”
Reflecting on the charity’s role within the beauty industry, he explains:
“We have a crucial role to fulfil as the beauty industry’s cancer support charity. We rely on the industry’s assistance, but we also know that there are many other organisations in the sector with whom we have the potential to work and with whom we are not currently engaging.”
Geoff, who himself lost close relatives to cancer at a young age, is aware that people join the workshops for different reasons, but that time spent with others in the safe workshop environment enables people to make long-lasting connections.
“Now, after 30 years, the charity is still as important as ever, and we continually strive to raise our game and improve the delivery of our services so that we can support anyone facing cancer in all communities across the country.”
And for the team at Look Good Feel Better, it is reassuring to know that Geoff’s experience and knowledge will always be there to support them.
